ABOUT THE PLANT:
The rubber tree, also known as Hevea brasiliensis, is a species of plant in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae. It is native to South America, specifically the Amazon basin, but is also cultivated in many other tropical regions around the world.
The Burgundy Rubber Tree is a spectacular indoor plant with thick, glossy leaves that range from a rich burgundy red to almost black.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE: Similar plant to the pictures in a 3” nursery pot.
CARE TIPS:
Light: Bright indirect light. Keep in mind if it gets direct light the leaves are easy to burn.
Water: Rubber plants like to be watered when the top 2 inches of their soil are totally dry to the touch. They also enjoy the occasional misting, especially when the air around them is dry.
Temperature: Keep the plant in a warm, humid environment with temperatures ranging between 60°F to 85°F.
Fertilizer: Feed the plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every month during the growing season (spring and summer).
Water: Rubber plants like to be watered when the top 2 inches of their soil are totally dry to the touch. They also enjoy the occasional mistiest, especially when the air around them is dry.
Re-potting: Remember, re-potting is a stressful process for plants, so it's important to avoid disturbing the roots too much and to keep the soil consistently moist in the days following re-potting to help the plant recover.
Choose a pot that is one size larger than the current one. The new pot should have drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating in the soil.
Propagation: When planting the rooted cutting, make sure to use a well-draining potting mix and keep the soil consistently moist. Water it thoroughly after planting and place it in a bright, indirect light location. With proper care, the new plant should begin to grow and thrive.
